LYSMATA AMBOINENSIS - SKUNK CLEANER SHRIMP The Skunk Cleaner Shrimp (Lysmata amboinensis) is probably the most popular shrimp for salt-water aquariums. With its beautiful red-yellow-white coloration and the maximum size of 8 cm the shrimp is a really eye-catcher in every tank. In addition it is very easy to keep. However, their most unique feature is the interesting cleaning behavior: The shrimp steadily cleans the fish which come to its cleaning station in the aquarium and frees them from skin parasites. In order to provide the Cleaner Shrimp a suitable home the tank should contain at least 50 litres and offer plenty of hiding places. Also they should be slowly and carefully acclimated because like all shrimps the Skunk Shrimp is sensitive to sudden changes in water values. Lysmata amboinensis are best kept as pair. As feed in addition to the fish parasites, frozen food, flakes or food pellets can be served.
